Where do we park?

Newport offers metered street parking and public parking lots. Please be sure to give yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk to the boat especially during peak times of the season.  We suggest at least 30 minutes to park and walk to the ticket booth.

Where do we board?

We are located at 31 Bowen’s Wharf (next to The Lobster Bar) in Newport, RI.  Check in at our ticket booth located on the dock and the Captain will bring you down to the boat when it’s time to board.

What time do we need to check-in?

Please check in at our ticket booth at least 20 minutes before your scheduled trip time.  The boat will not wait for late passengers.

What should we wear?

For your safety, please wear soft-soled shoes.  No bare feet allowed.  For your comfort, you may want to bring layers as the ocean breeze can sometimes be cool.  Sunglasses, sunscreen, sweatshirt, rain gear, and a hat are also recommended, based on the weather.                

What about the weather?

Our trips will go out in a variety of weather including rain, drizzle, and fog, as long as the captain deems it safe to do so.  If we do cancel based on weather, you will be able to reschedule your ticket or receive a full refund.  

What's the cancellation/refund policy?

Lobster trip tickets canceled less than 24 hours in advance are non-refundable though may be exchanged for another tour of the same type if seats are available. 

What is your schedule of trips?

Trips are offered daily from late May through September.  Please see our calendar for specific dates and times. We do need a minimum number of passengers to run our trips.

When do tickets go on sale?

The public calendar will open in the spring.  Call anytime to book private charters.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are strongly encouraged to guarantee a space for you on the boat and we do require a minimum number of passengers to run our trips. Click here to book online! Call our office (401) 619-4431 with any questions.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

Is there food on board? Are we allowed to bring food and beverages?

We do not have food service on the boat. We do have bottled water available for $1/bottle.

Fishing trips:  You are allowed to bring small coolers for your fish and any food or drink you may wish to have.  Although excessive drinking of alcohol will not be tolerated on Northeastern, you are welcome to bring a reasonable amount of canned beer on board, please no glass bottles!. No hard liquor is allowed.

Lobster trips:  You may bring food and non-alcoholic drinks onboard.  No glass containers.  Small coolers only.

Specialty evening trips:  No outside food or drink is allowed

What is the policy about tipping?

As in any service industry, tipping is at your discretion.  Standard gratuities for the crew are between 15-20% of the cost of your trip.

Can I charter the boat for my bachelor party/company outing/birthday?

We do offer private charters on board Northeastern.  Charter times are dependent upon our open sailing schedule.   Call or email for more info.

Are there restrooms on board?

There is a ‘porta potty’ on board for passengers to use.  We do suggest using a public restroom before boarding. 

Are wheelchairs allowed?

The boat is not wheelchair accessible and due to safety reasons, wheelchairs are not allowed onboard.  Wheelchairs can be left at the ticket booth during the trip.  Passengers will need to climb up or down 1 to 4 steps to access the boat based on the tide.

Are strollers and car seats allowed?

Due to safety reasons, strollers are not allowed on-board and may be left near the ticket booth before boarding.  Car seats may be brought on board

Can we bring our dog aboard?

No, due to safety reasons, dogs are not allowed on any of our trips.

What are the policies for large groups?

If you are making a reservation for 10 or more, our ticket booth will call you once the seats are booked. 

Please note that no group or individual is guaranteed any specific location on the boat.
