trip details

Fishing trips with Fish’n Tales Adventures aboard the 50′ F/V Northeastern, sailing from Bowen’s Wharf in Newport. A saltwater fishing license is not required on the U.S.C.G. inspected, 50′ F/V Northeastern, the only party boat for fishing operating out of Newport harbor.

Offering open fishing trips for individuals and groups of fishermen at a ticket price is Fish’n Tales Adventures, located at Bowen’s Wharf. It is a party boat, meaning anyone, beginners included, interested in fishing can join a trip. On Fish’n Tales Adventures trips, the rod, tackle, bait and ice are included in the price. Groups may charter the entire boat for their own fishing excursion.

Fisherman may bring aboard their own rod and light tackle for stand-up jigging. When the time remaining in the day allows and weather permits, anglers can target other seasonal species common to local waters.

Proper attire for variable weather conditions is, of course, essential. Fishermen and crew can filet the day’s catch back at the dock. One tip: plan to have a small cooler or insulated bag with you to pack your catch on ice, and bring a supply of extra plastic zipper bags for filets. You can also opt to leave the fish on board in the vessel’s coolers and it will not go to waste.

For specific details about the schedule phone Fish’n Tales Adventures at (401) 619-4431. The F/V Northeastern casts off near Aquidneck Lobster Company. For general fishing info, plus the rules and regulations of saltwater fishing in Rhode Island waters, see www.risaa.org or www.dem.ri.gov.
